ACID Team Partner with Healthcare Workers for Adolescent Health Awareness

On 9 March 2026, the ACID team alongside ANMs, GNMs, ICDS representatives, and Anganwadi health workers conducted a comprehensive awareness session on reproductive health and menstruation for adolescent boys and girls.

The event created a safe, interactive space where over 70 students freely asked questions and clarified doubts without hesitation. Through age-appropriate discussions and activities, healthcare workers and teachers provided vital guidance on physical and emotional development. The session successfully debunked deep-rooted myths and reduced the stigma surrounding menstruation, significantly boosting the students' confidence, awareness, and attitudes toward personal well-being.

Complementing these awareness efforts, ACID also distributes sanitary napkins to adolescent girls on a quarterly basis to ensure sustained menstrual hygiene support.

Sowing the Seeds of Health: ACID Establishes Homestead Nutrition Gardens in the Sundarbans

To combat malnutrition and enhance dietary health among sponsored children and their families, ACID has established homestead nutrition gardens across the intervention zone of Sundarbans. Recognizing that fresh produce is financially out of reach for many vulnerable households, the organization distributes seasonal vegetable seeds three times a year. This is paired with hands-on training in sustainable cultivation, empowering families to grow their own nutrient-rich food and diversify their daily meals.

To complement this health initiative and foster climate resilience, ACID also distributes fruit saplings to expand the green cover in this ecologically sensitive region. This dual-purpose strategy successfully restores local ecological balance while securing long-term access to fresh, homegrown fruit for growing children and their communities.

Child Cabinet Prevents Child Marriage and secures Girls’ Education in Hingalganj

In a remote village within the Hingalganj block, a bright 15-year-old Class X student faced a sudden crisis. Known for her academic excellence and active role in her Learning Centre’s Child Cabinet, her future was thrown into jeopardy when poverty and social pressures forced her parents to arrange her marriage to a significantly older man.

Terrified of losing her education and her dream of becoming a teacher, she confided in her fellow Child Cabinet members. Recognizing the urgency, the youth leaders immediately briefed their teacher facilitator and sprang into action. The Child Cabinet members visited the girl’s home to speak with her parents. They respectfully but firmly outlined the severe consequences of child marriage—detailing the health risks, the certainty of dropping out of school, and the strict legal penalties. They strongly advocated for every child's fundamental right to education, safety, and a secure childhood. Facing financial hardships, the parents were initially resistant. Undeterred, the Child Cabinet sought reinforcement from local community leaders, as well as the ACID staff and management team. Together, they conducted a structured counselling session for the family. The team reinforced the illegality of child marriage, emphasized its lifelong damage, and promised consistent academic guidance for the girl through the Learning Centre. The collective intervention succeeded. Realising the gravity of the situation, the parents agreed to call off the wedding and pledged to support their daughter through her graduation. Today, the girl is back in school, pursuing her studies with renewed confidence and serving as an inspiration to other young girls in her village. This success is not an isolated incident. Throughout the year, at least seven girls under the age of 16 were identified as being at high risk of child marriage due to deep-rooted poverty and a lack of community awareness. By remaining highly vigilant, the Child Cabinet members, ACID staff, and local teachers have built a proactive safety net. Every time a potential child marriage is reported, immediate intervention and counselling follow—resulting in an exceptional success rate in safeguarding children and keeping them in the classroom. This incident vividly highlights the powerful role that youth-led Child Cabinets play in defending child rights, shifting community mindsets, and building a safer world for every child.

Empowering Educators: ACID Hosts Dynamic Workshop on Modern Teaching Methodologies

To foster innovation in the classroom, ACID successfully organized a comprehensive professional development training titled “Empowering Teachers Through New-Age Pedagogy” in November and December 2025. The initiative focused on modernizing traditional teaching frameworks and equipping educators with the tools needed to build future-ready classrooms. The intensive training deepened teachers' understanding of modern, student-centric methodologies, including:  The 5E Model (Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, Evaluate) to structure high-impact lessons.  Competency-Based Learning (CBL) to ensure students master specific skills rather than just memorising facts.  Experiential Based Learning (EBL) to bridge the gap between theory and practical life.  Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL) to nurture critical thinking and independent problem-solving skills. Moving away from theoretical lectures, the program utilized immersive hands-on demonstrations, collaborative group simulations, and real-world classroom applications. Teachers actively participated in designing interactive lesson plans that shift the classroom dynamic from passive listening to active exploration. Together, ACID and the participating educators successfully reimagined instructional methods. By integrating these progressive approaches, teachers are now empowered to spark curiosity, ignite creativity, and deliver deeply meaningful learning experiences for every student.

A Journey of Connection: Patha-Bhavana Youth Lead Cultural Exchange and Support Drive

Real learning transcends the walls of a classroom, it thrives within people, culture, and community. Embracing this philosophy, the Seva Vibhaga of Patha-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, organized an inspiring Village Visit Program on 15 March 2026. Facilitated by the Andrewspalli Centre for Integrated Development (ACID), this immersive exposure visit allowed young students to connect deeply with rural. life, exchange perspectives, and share joyful moments with the local community. The day was enlivened by a vibrant cultural exchange that beautifully celebrated local tribal traditions, music, and the timeless grace of Rabindra Sangeet Nritya. This artistic convergence brought everyone together, fostering a deep sense of unity and mutual respect. In a meaningful gesture of solidarity and care, senior students from Patha-Bhavana’s Seva Vibhaga distributed essential school supplies - including durable school bags, water bottles, and sitting mat - to the children attending the ACID run Learning Centre in Binodpur tribal village. This thoughtful contribution directly supports the young learners in their daily educational journey, leaving a lasting impact on the village.

Celebration of Children’s Day

On 14 November 2025, the Andrewspalli Centre for Integrated Development (ACID) celebrated Children’s Day by organising a vibrant children's cultural event. The event took place on the premises of the ACID Learning Centre in Binodpur, a tribal village located within the Bolpur-Sriniketan Community Development Block. Designed to celebrate childhood and promote holistic development, this initiative provided an invaluable platform for children from historically marginalised sections of society. In an area where access to creative expression and personal development opportunities is traditionally limited, this event served as a vital space for self-expression. Aligning with the spirit of children's rights, the celebration underscored the importance of ensuring the comprehensive growth of every child. The program aimed to give young participants a stage to showcase their unique talents through various cultural activities. Beyond individual artistic expression, the event was structured to promote inclusiveness, foster social awareness, and encourage collective efforts toward community development. By bringing the community together, this collaborative gathering successfully strengthened local partnerships, laying a solid foundation for future developmental initiatives in the region.
